Zac Parker grew up in Kalispell, Montana. He pursued dual bachelor’s degrees in Rhetoric Studies and Philosophy at Whitman College, graduating in 2015. While at Whitman, Zac was a member of the NPDA Debate Team, sold books at the campus store, and began his teaching and mentoring career as an AVID tutor. Zac obtained a Master’s degree in Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2017, and achieved doctoral candidacy at the same institution in 2019. He is on track to complete his PhD in early 2022.

As a researcher, Zac is interested in the communicative processes involved in how communities heal and rebuild in the wake of acts of terrorism. His dissertation combines field research with qualitative interviews to study commemorative work done in Charleston, SC, Oklahoma City, OK, and Orlando, FL.
